2048 X2 Legends is a merge game similar to classic 2048 that features cut gemstone-style blocks instead of tiles. The player must combine blocks up and across five columns to create a 2048 block.
The game doesn't drop the blocks down the screen from the top. Instead, it slides them upward toward the top from the bottom. The player selects the column to drop a block, and the block slides toward the top automatically.
The player must combine two or more identical blocks to create higher-number blocks. For example, they merge two number 2 blocks to create a 4 block. Unlike many similar games, they can also create even higher numbers by merging three or more identical ones at the same time.
2048 X2 Legends features multiplier options. The player wins crystal-shaped jewel point rewards when they reach certain block levels. If they're willing to watch an advertisement video, they can double (X2 multiply) their reward. Additionally, they can watch an advertisement at any time to receive more jewels.
The game features several tools designed to help the player win. It offers a button marked with a hammer to destroy a block. A button marked with arrows and blocks allows the player to swap the positions of two adjacent blocks. A backward arrow button allows them to undo their last move. They use jewels to buy these tools.
If the player becomes stuck, they can remove the two lowest rows across the five columns by watching a video.
