Mahjong is a tile-based game developed in the Qing Dynasty in China and spread worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century. There are usually four players (some of them are in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia). The game and its regional variations are widespread in East and Southeast Asia and have become popular in Western countries. The game has also been adapted for a wide range of online entertainment. Like a Western card game, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation that has a clear chance.
How it's played
It is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols, although some regional variations may omit or add unique tiles to some. In most versions, each player begins to receive 13 tiles. Players end up drawing and throwing tiles until they complete the legal hand with the 14 pieces drawn and form 4 boxes (or sets) and a pair (eye). The player can also win with a small class with special hands. There are pretty standard rules for how one piece is drawn, how one piece is torn by another player, how to use simple (numbered tiles) and decorations (wind and dragons), allowed field types, how to manage cards and ordering games. Despite these similarities, there are many regional differences in the rules, including very different scoring systems, legitimate winning criteria and even private table rules that distinguish some variants that characterize different mahjong styles.
Mahjong Connect is a tile-matching game that features 144 tiles from traditional Mahjong in a horizontally positioned rectangular design on an orange play field decorated with a Chinese dragon motif. The tiles display different sets of bamboo, dots that represent stones and Chinese characters. Peacock bonus tiles also exist. The game presents the tiles in 10 mixed up and slightly overlapping, stacked rows with 14 tiles per row. To win each level of the game, the player must clear the play field of tiles before a hidden timer runs out of time. The tile rows sometimes shift left or down when the player removes a pair from the board. The player can use this movement to discover new matching pair connections and even strategically remove tiles along the left edge to align tiles row to row. Mahjong Connect permits matches along the left, right, top and bottom borders and between side-by-side tiles, tiles that touch at a point of overlap and tiles in rows across an empty space.
How to play:
Locate two matching tiles along the borders or next to each other. Pair them to remove them from the play field. Repeat the process until all tiles disappear from the field. To win the game, clear each play field over twelve levels.
Mouse: To pair two tiles, click the first one, wait for a purple highlight pane and red border to appear atop it, and then click the matching one. If a connection exists, a pink line appears between the tiles before they disappear from the play field. To locate matching tiles, click the button marked with a "T" for Tips below the Hint label. To restart the level, click the button marked with an "R" below the Return label, and then click "Yes" or press the "Y" key.
Mobile: To pair matching tiles, tap the first tile with the tip of a finger or stylus, and then tap the second one. Tap the Return, Pause or Hints buttons, as needed.
