X2 Block Match is a merge-style, sliding-block game similar to the classic 2048 sliding-tile game. It tasks the player with the simple goal of merging pairs of blocks that feature matching numbers to create higher-numbered blocks.
Unlike similar games, it doesn't require the player to rearrange dropping blocks or beat a timer. Instead, they place the first available block beneath a playfield of five columns on a column. They then continue placing blocks on columns at their own pace.
When the player positions a block, it automatically merges with an adjacent matching block. For example, if the player adds a 4 block to a column that positions it next to another 4 block, the game slides the block into place and then auto-merges it with the matching block to create an 8 block.
X2 Block Match regularly gives the player target-block tasks. For example, it might task the player with creating a 512 block. Once they achieve their goal, they're rewarded with blue crystals that they can use to purchase boosters that help make the merging process easier and faster, such as a mallet that smashes an unwanted block, a swap tool that switches the locations of two blocks, and a tool that doubles a block's number. The player can increase crystal rewards with a multiplier if they watch an advertisement. They also receive crystals as daily quest and spin wheel rewards.
