This version of Mythical Jewels by Netherlands' mobile games studio CoolGames is a 2019 update of the 2016 release. The game speed tests a player's hand-eye coordination and matching skills. They must match three or more jewels at a time on the play field to remove them and work toward earning and accruing the most points.
On the main screen, the player taps a gear icon to learn more about the game and adjust settings. The player can click or tap "How to Play" on the popup Settings window to explore a simple walkthrough. They can also click or tap the button that features a musical note icon to turn off the music or a button that features a speaker icon to turn off all sound. Additionally, the Settings window allows a player to learn more about other games by CoolGames and the company. Once a player has explored the Settings screen, they click or tap "Play" to access the main play field.
On the main screen, a board filled with jewels appears. A popup windows alerts the player that they have only one minute to clear the board and earn a high score. On the left side of the board, the player can review the amount of time they have left to clear the board of all gemstones. This sidebar also displays their score and all-time high score while they play and provides a game pause option.
Mythical Jewels automatically provides a player with hints about a potential gemstone match throughout game play by displaying four small white arrows pointing at a jewel. To move and align jewels, a player clicks and drags or taps and swipes a single jewel along a vertical or horizontal path on the board to switch the locations of two jewels at a time. When the play aligns three jewels in a row, the color-matched gems disappear, the score for the match briefly appears and disappears on the board and then the score updates on the sidebar as more gems slide down onto the board from above.
Alignment of four jewels creates a large jewel bomb that the player can reposition to remove more jewels from the play field faster. Jewels aligned in L or T shapes create a line bomb. Alignment of five jewels creates a color bomb that removes all jewels of the same color from the board. Any time one of these alignments takes place, the player receives more game play time on the timer.
