Wood Block Journey is a block-puzzle game that uses a 9x9 board similar to a Sudoku board instead of a classic 10x10 board. It also offers two modes of gameplay (Single and Journey). The player's primary goal is the same as in other similar games. They need to create rows, lines and squares on the board by placing polyomino shapes made of blocks into empty grid spaces. Their secondary goals depend on the game mode.
In Single mode, the player must reach ever-increasing target scores. In Journey, they must complete missions across dozens of levels. Each mission requires the player to collect a specific number of block gemstones using polyomino shapes made of wooden blocks or a mix of wooden blocks and gems.
Wood Block Journey doesn't utilize boosters or require the player to beat a timer. The player merely needs to use the three shapes below the board that appear to make as many rows, lines and squares as possible. They earn higher points if they remove more than one line at a time with a single move.
