Bird Sort Puzzle is a sorting game that features birds and branches instead of balls and laboratory test tubes. A player is presented with mixed groups of colorful birds, including cockatiels, parrots and toucans, resting on branches in a mountainous tropical locale. The player must arrange the birds by type with only one type per branch. The game features hundreds of levels that challenge the player with complicated bird arrangements.
As with ball-sorting games, the player selects and moves the birds to create matched groups. They can move one bird or several of the same type that are resting next to each other on a branch. If the player runs out of space to move around the birds, they must restart the level or try to use several tools the game provides to help them win, including a back arrow that serves as an undo button and a branch tool with a plus sign that gives them an extra empty branch.
Bird Sort Puzzle also offers a hint tool marked with a light bulb that the player can use before they run out of moves. When the player successfully creates all groups, the birds fly away in different directions in their groups.
