Bolts and Nuts Puzzle is a sorting game with a hardware removal theme. An anthropomorphic bolt needs the player to reposition screws and bolts into holes to remove objects attached to a thin, dark brown wooden board affixed to the front of a lighter-colored board. They must sometimes perform this task before time runs out on a timer below the bottom center of the boards. When they rearrange and remove objects correctly, they receive gold coins that they can eventually use to buy tools that can help them complete their tasks faster.
With each level, the player is presented with a logic puzzle consisting of several similar or different metal plates arranged in unique patterns with the bolts. They also receive one or more holes. They must determine the right order to remove the bolts to guarantee they always have enough holes for the repositioning process. If they don't use the best order, they might allow a plate to swing and block a needed hole or slide halfway across a hole.
Bolts and Nuts Puzzle allows the player to gain access to additional holes by watching advertising videos. The player can also view ads or use their accumulated coins to remove up to three bolts from the board entirely and gain access to boosters that freeze time. They receive extra coins for reaching certain achievements.
