Strategy games have been popular for decades with new variations popping up all the time. Bubble Shooters' new game, Jelly Blocks has set the bar a little higher with a twist on an old classic.
Gameplay
This addition to the Bubble Shooter platform will become a legend. While Jelly Blocks has a visually comfortable feel to it, the gameplay is much different. Three colored blocks appear below a 7x7 grid. The blocks are of various straight and L-shaped pieces. Place these blocks in a way that forms horizontal and/or vertical lines. Once fitted together the completed line will disappear.
Located in the lower left of the game window is a Full-Screen option. The settings icon is in the top right of the screen. The drop-down options are:
Volume- The background music of the game also includes some funky in-game sounds. They alert you to new pieces appearing or when lines get deleted.
New level- Players can choose to restart the game and receive a new level
Reset- current game
Directly above the game board are two icons. One a star and the other a trophy. The star will keep track of the current game score, while the trophy tracks your high score.
Jelly Blocks might look easy, but therein lies the challenge. Without a timer, there is no pressure to race the clock to achieve time bonuses. The game continues until there is no room for more blocks. Of course, there are a few little things that increase the challenge.
1. Deleting a line only affects the line. The other blocks will remain where they are.
2. No preview of upcoming blocks. The new pieces are a surprise.
3. No rotation of current pieces. You are stuck with the position the block shows up in.
While Bubble Shooters is a quirky twist on a classic, it has the playability to become a classic itself. So sit back, relax and let Jelly Bubbles take you away.
