Soccer Merge is a sports game that features elements from soccer and multiple offline and online games. The player attempts to increase the skills of a soccer team and play competitive timed matches across seven leagues.
The player starts by merging identical soccer-related items on a checkerboard-style board to create new items (i.e., armbands, cleats and knee pads) to equip each team member (i.e., forwards, midfielders, defenders, and reserve players) via the Tasks icon. They also create containers that generate objects. They use a Team icon as they progress through the matches and leagues to upgrade each soccer player's skills and unlock new team countries.
The game uses round chips similar to an air hockey puck to represent each team member on the player's team, which is the blue team, and a standard soccer ball. It also uses directional and force controls similar to those in online archery and billiards. The player selects a chip to generate a guideline and arrow and then slides and pulls with the controls to create a shooting angle and enough force to direct the chip to slide across the field and hit the ball in a straight line or off a side wall or other chip.
Soccer Merge uses XP, energy, gems and coins for its currency system. The player receives coins via gift boxes, bags and merge board containers. Energy automatically updates via a timer and a merge chest.
