The player merges blocks on a five-column playfield. The blocks drop automatically from the top slowly enough that they can relocate a dropping block to any column. They typically start with a 2 block. They must combine it with another block of the same value to make a 4 block. They then merge that block with another 4 block to create an 8 block and continue merging for as long as possible.
If the player does well, they reach 1024 and receive a reward of 20 gemstones. If they watch an advertisement, they receive a multiplier reward and 60 gemstones.
The game supplies assistance. If the player loses by allowing a column to fill with blocks, they can use 100 of any gems they've previously earned or watch an advertisement to start the new game with a 512 block. They can buy or receive a hint preview tool that displays the next block to the right of the playfield for the same price. The game also supplies a booster that allows them to remove a block from anywhere on a column using a stone hammer with a wooden handle.
The fun doesn't stop there! When the player successfully reaches 2048, they can keep going to try to create a special block that displays an infinity symbol.
