Squishy Fruits is a merge game that shares similarities with incremental, merge, bubble-shooting and pop-it games. The player merges fruits in a narrow, blue-walled container to create larger fruits. Unlike Suika merge-style games, the player doesn't merge small fruits to create other types of larger fruits. Instead, they incrementally drop small versions of cut fruit on top of the same types to make larger, balloon versions with squishy sides that eventually grow big enough to automatically pop. Their goal is to play as long as possible to earn the highest score without allowing any fruit to reach a red horizontal line along the top of the container.
The player chooses Standard or Enhanced play. With Enhanced play, the player merely receives 10 tilt moves and a shorter delay between drops. With a tilt, the game slides all fruit, such as kiwis, coconuts, apples, oranges, mangosteens, papayas and watermelons, from one side of the container to the other to help prompt automatic merges. At all other times, the fruits roll, bounce and float, which results in automatic merges as well. In a Standard game, the player can watch ads to gain an additional five tilts per side at any time. They can also pick one type of fruit to drop or pop to make merges and open up more space inside the container.
Squishy Fruits displays a preview of the next three available fruits near the upper-left corner. It also allows the player to hold a fruit in a storage area until a merge opportunity becomes available.
