Bubble Merge is a merge game like 2048 and Suika that features bubbles instead of tiles, cubes or fruits. The player's goal is to merge pairs of matching anthropomorphic bubbles along an evolutionary path from one type of bubble to another until they create a blue, smiling bubble that wears sunglasses.
The game displays a white-outlined container with a blue backdrop in front of a darker blue background. Unlike the majority of these types of games, the bubbles don't drop from the top of the container to the bottom. Instead, the player releases a bubble from beneath a dashed horizontal white line at the bottom, and it then floats to the top.
The player must attempt to merge bubbles by aligning each released beneath a matching one. When a bubble touches its match, the two bubbles merge to form the next larger one in the series. The player can review a key or map of the evolution by using the tab under the points field near the top-right corner of the screen. They can review a preview of the next bubble available for release at the top-center.
Bubble Merge also allows the player to custom-select a bubble to release. When they use the tab labeled with the blue sunglasses bubble on the left side of the screen, they can control the next bubble available to them by watching an advertisement video.
