Shmetris is a Suika-style merge game with Tetris elements. Inside a clear container in front of a gradient blue-purple background decorated with an accent grid, the player merges identical shapes made of small blocks using evolution rules to create new shapes. Their primary objective is to discover and collect a total of 15 unique polyomino shapes. Their secondary goal is to reveal a secret.
The player starts out with a single, solid-colored block. To make the next shape, a yellow one that features two blocks, they drop a matching block onto the first one. It's important to note that blocks and shapes can bounce, slide or fall randomly when hitting the bottom of the container or other blocks or shapes. As a result, the player must attempt to drop blocks and shapes with precision.
That said, the game offers the player two options for correcting any drops and reaching their goals faster. The player can use bombs to blast shapes inside the container into new positions, like a shake tool. They can also use balls that look like cake-ball desserts as wild cards that match any shape in the container to level up the next hard-to-reach evolution point.
Shmetris doesn't feature a rotation option like other Tetris games. The player also doesn't need to remove horizontal lines of blocks.
