Fancy Constructor is a block-style logic-puzzle game. The player doesn't create rows or columns to earn points, as seen with many other general and wood block-puzzle games. Instead, they must drag colorful polyomino shapes made of connected blocks with swirled textured patterns into position on top of white outlines displayed against a grid and cork background on 12x12 boards. The game presents them with 30 of these extremely challenging, head-scratching puzzles.
Each board offers a different pattern of existing blocks, such as unmovable black blocks serving either as a border all the way around the edges of the board or at the corners. The player slides the colorful shapes into position so that they perfectly overlap the white outlines. If they slide a shape too fast, it can accidentally bump into a previously placed shape and slide it out of position.
Fancy Constructor doesn't permit the player to drag shapes over the top or through other shapes. The player must position shapes with only one access path to a specific part of the outline before placing shapes along the outer edges.
Thankfully, the game doesn't penalize the player for making placement mistakes. The player can reposition a shape as many times as necessary to achieve the correct placement.
