Farm Frenzy 2 is a click-tap game with a semi-realistic farm simulation theme. The player learns the ins and outs of running a successful farm business across levels in Career mode. If they play long enough, they can also unlock an Endless mode and win various awards and trophies.
The game presents the player with an overhead, top-down view of a farm. The player uses level markers to access each level and perform different tasks. For example, they must start the game by producing eggs. They must first sow the ground with grass seed and water it to feed chickens. They then must earn enough coins from their work to buy more water, chickens and eventually equipment that turns the eggs into powder.
The player then dispatches a certain amount of the items by truck or plane to earn money near the top-right corner of the screen. If they do well, the game tracks their coins, the time it took for them to complete their task, the bonus amount and the type of trophy awarded.
Over time, the player can purchase other animals, like pigs and cows, and other important farm-related objects, like a well, a warehouse and vehicles. They can also purchase a cat and a dog.
Farm Frenzy 2 challenges the player in a variety of ways. Items purchased in one level don't always transfer to the next one. A crazy black-and-white panda bear also shows up and steals animals and goods. The player must repeatedly attempt to cage it.
