Jetpack Joyride is an online game that puts the player in a city where they need to evade obstacles and collect coins as quickly as possible. All of this happens while using a jetpack! The goal is simple: you have to get from the start point on one side of the map to end point on the other without crashing into anything or running out of fuel. If you do crash, then it's back to square one; time for some more practice!
Playing the game is very simple. The first thing you need to do is choose a character! There are five different characters, each with their own unique design and personality. You can play Easy Mode or Normal Mode. Easy mode has no obstacles, so anyone should be able to achieve 5 stars on this mode.
Normal mode has obstacles that you need to avoid! Then it's onto the game itself! You're behind an accelerator, and then there are coins in front of you - collect all these coins by flying over them. If your fuel runs out, you'll come crashing back down to Earth. There are also obstacles such as lasers and blocks that you need to avoid. There's also a magnet that will collect all the coins in front of you and shoot them back up, so make sure you're hovering above it!
There are three different types of powerups: the Magnet, the Coin Multiplier and Fuel Refills. The Magnet will pick up all the coins in front of you, so you don't have to go there. The Coin Multiplier will multiply any coins you collect by 2x, so if you get four coins in the current wave, they'll all be multiplied by this amount. Finally there are Fuel Refills to add to your tank!
There are also missions to complete to earn rewards! These include missions to collect a certain number of coins in one round, survive for a given amount of time, or get 5 or more stars in Easy Mode. You can even set the mission yourself
