Words Match is a word puzzle game. Against a gradient blue evening sky filled with stars, the player works through the game's levels by creating words using rows and columns of mixed round-cornered white letter tiles. They also attempt to earn as many coins as possible.
The game rewards coins based on the player reaching the goal for a level, their score at the end of the level, the number of new words they created, and the number of golden cells they used when creating words. As a result, play is cyclical. The player must earn coins to upgrade the number of points they can earn for every tile they use to create words. They must create long words or use tiles with high points to earn more coins.
Words Match displays the goal or mission at the upper-left corner above the field, such as a request that the player create a specific word shown below the tiles or use only a certain number of tiles or moves. The upper-right corner shows the number of moves available.
The player receives boosters as well, such as word bombs when they create long words. They can use a bomb to remove a 3x3 square of tiles to add fresh tiles to the field. They can also refresh the field by using other boosters to perform different actions, such as shuffling the tiles and replacing one letter with a different one.
When the player saves enough coins, they use the Upgrades button to select letters to upgrade with higher points. They can track their score at the upper-center area.
