Word Mania is a connect-style word-puzzle game. The player's goal is to fill empty spaces on a wall with white letter tiles to create words. They receive the tiles in the foreground. They use colorful curving, stretchy lines to connect the letters.
The player receives coins every time they complete a puzzle correctly. They use the coins to buy helpful tools. They can purchase a hint by using a round button marked with a yellow light bulb near the bottom-left corner. They can also shuffle the tiles into a different order to reveal words by using the round button marked with double green arrows near the bottom-right corner.
Word Mania makes it easy for the player to discover the correct words if they're having difficulty. They merely need to select a row or column. The game uses a turntable in the foreground to automatically reveal the tiles for the selected spaces.
The game shows the player their selection with a tab and an arrow that point at the current word spaces. When they complete a word, they fill in one or more letters of the more difficult word that crosses the completed one.
When the player reaches the last round in a set of rounds, the game changes play. Instead of presenting mixed tiles, it arranges the letters into words and mixes them with other letter tiles like a word search game. The player must connect the letters that make up specific words before they run out of time.
