Mahjong: Seasons 1 is a connect-style tile-matching game with a summertime theme that features summer outdoor scenes (i.e., sunflower fields in a mountain valley and a rocky, grass- and flower-covered riverside meadow) as the backdrop for each playfield. The game displays floating round-cornered tiles in various patterns across 12 levels of play. The player must complete a level to unlock the next one.
The tiles display summer imagery, including apples, bananas, bees, beverages, birds, campfires, cherries, flowers, ice cream bars, ladybugs, leaves, lemons, strawberries, turtles, umbrellas and watermelons. The player must select pairs of tiles that display matching images to remove them from the field. They can only select two adjacent side-by-side identical tiles or ones that they can connect with less than three lines through the gaps between the tiles.
Mahjong: Seasons 1 provides two helpful tools. The player can shuffle all tiles on the field to position matching ones side by side and open up new three-line paths. They can also use a highlight tool to reveal one available pair. After they use these tools a single time per level, they must watch advertisements to reuse them. That said, the game resets the free tool access on each new level.
