An upgraded version of the classic, Chinese-themed Mahjong Connect tile puzzle game, Mahjong Connect Remastered features improved gameplay and upgraded graphics. This version, released in August 2021, has been designed by UK company Fieg Ltd.
In Mahjong Connect Remastered, a player clicks or taps the off-white "Play" button to access the main screen. The game opens to a tile-bordered background and provides an option to turn off the volume before play begins with the click or tap of a teal button marked with a speaker icon. To start, the player must then tap a red button.
The point of the game is to clear the play field of tiles as quickly as possible. When the field opens, it displays a screen covered in tiles. The player's game level and score appear at the bottom of the screen. The game also offers the player the option to pause the game at any time or undo the last move.
Two identical tiles located side-by-side on the screen briefly shake to show the player how the game works. The player must match identical tiles that connect at their edges or have no tiles between them along the game field border with a line by clicking or tapping them. With each match, the highlighted tiles disappear and tiles above them slide down the screen into new positions. The player looks for new matches and continues to remove tiles from the screen until none remain.
