Mahjong: Seasons 2 - Autumn Winter is the next installment in the popular series. This time, the player matches tiles using connect-style rules on playfields that depict imagery from the last two seasons of the year (i.e., cloudy blue skies above hills bathed in autumnal colors and a snow-covered valley with a river and mountains).
As with the first game, the player must pair and remove round-cornered white tiles presented in a variety of patterns across 12 levels. The tiles display autumn and winter pictures, such as brass bells, brown leaves, candy canes, fresh chestnuts, holiday trees, hot cocoa, jack-o-lanterns, knitted socks, lit candles, red-capped mushrooms, shooting stars, strawberry jam, snow hats, tree ornaments and green wreaths.
The player selects and removes adjacent side-by-side tiles or matching tiles that they can connect within up to three lines using pre-existing gaps in a specific pattern or ones created after a pair removal. If the player removes tiles quickly, they receive a points multiplier and up to three golden stars. If they waste time, they lose the multiplier.
Mahjong: Seasons 2 makes it easier for the player to find matching pairs. They can select a button labeled with overlapping twisted arrows to shuffle the tiles. They can also use a button labeled with binoculars to reveal a pair via blinking white corner brackets. To use these buttons more than once, the player must watch ads. When they unlock a new level, the game resets the buttons.
