Hero Tower Wars, also known as Hero Wars, is a strategy, merge-puzzle game with a fantasy theme. A player explores the world as a knight on a quest to acquire amazing powers and weapons, fight horrible monsters and save princesses trapped in towers.
The player's knight emerges from their tower to face one or more floors of challenges in a nearby enemy's tower. The player must move floor to floor wisely so that they don't enter an area unprepared for battle with either the wrong weapon or too few blue experience points. To protect the knight from deadly single blows or the loss of too many points, they must only face obstacles or enemies with red experience points that are lower than the knight's points at any given time.
Hero Tower Wars allows the player to upgrade their knight and princess characters with golden coins they receive as rewards. The game also allows them to collect weapons, such as daggers, swords, maces, shields and shurikens, to fight trolls, wolves and other low-level bad guys to earn enough points to defeat more powerful bad guys, such as acid-spitting beasts, ice-bear-wolf monsters and dragons. Depending on the tower, they can also acquire objects that increase or multiply their points, such as slices of bread and potions, merge together objects to create even more powerful weapons and find keys to open floors secured with chains and treasure chests.
