Bus Stop is a driving and business-management simulation game. The player uses buses to ferry passengers from nearby beach and city communities, the airport and other locations to their boardwalk amusement park. They use the revenues from these rides to expand the park by offering more rides to attract even more customers. In the park, a ball juggler also collects money automatically to help the player open up new areas faster.
The game unlocks new buses after so many successful runs. The player must take care not to crash into anything or allow other vehicles or objects to come into contact with it. Yet, the routes feature a lot of traffic, including cars, trucks, and other ground-level motor vehicles, airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons and light-rail passenger trains.
If even a blade from a helicopter touches a bus, the vehicle explodes and the player loses passengers and revenues. They also lose passengers if they overshoot a bus stop. Additionally, they need to react to traffic light changes, traffic barrier arms, gas station customers, groups of red crabs, and pedestrians in crosswalks.
Bus Stop features stickman-style expansion play at the boardwalk. The player directs a stickman with a big head in a business suit to take cash to card areas that display specific money amounts. They can also hire workers this way.
