Sushi Puzzle is a brain-teaser, block-puzzle game similar to Doge Blocks. The player's goal across 30 levels is to drag and drop shapes made of pieces of Japanese sushi onto two-tone brown checkerboards to complete various patterns.
The game displays each board with unique edges on a white serving table. The player rearranges a preset number of sushi pieces, including different types of fish and rice, on the board to cover every square space. They receive only three minutes per level to complete this task. Additionally, they must finish before they run out of 30 moves.
The player can adjust the positions of the sushi shapes at any time. They can move a piece around on a board. They can also place it back with other pieces below the board. That said, every move counts against their total moves. The game doesn't allow the player to rotate pieces via a click or tap with the controls. Yet, any action performed on the board, even if the player doesn't reposition a piece, also counts against the total number of available moves.
Sushi Puzzle supplies the player with 10 hints via a yellow light bulb icon across the entire game. With a hint, the game removes all shapes from the screen except one to show its placement. The player must use these hints carefully. After the 10th use, the icon turns gray and stops working.
