Mahjong Classic Tile Match is a tile-matching game that mixes Classic Mahjong layered tile patterns and rules with less traditional iconography. The player's goal is to remove the patterns in pairs across 50 levels before a 5-minute timer runs out of time. They track the time next to an hourglass icon on the right sidebar. As they progress through each level, they track their accumulated points next to a lightning bolt icon above the timer.
The game features a classic gradient-green background as the playfield. That said, the wooden tiles display a mix of traditional and non-traditional symbols and designs from several Asian cultures. The player might attempt to match pairs of classic bamboo, stones and dragons or less traditional representations of flowers and seasons. The game also features symbols representing architectural structures, decorative items and sacred or ritual pieces. The tiles offer a mix of multi-colored and one-color symbols.
Mahjong Classic Tile Match presents the players with several tools that help make matching and removing tile pairs easier. It highlights available uncovered tiles and leaves covered unavailable ones in shadows. It turns selected tiles blue in contrast with unselected ones. It offers a large hint button marked with a light bulb. When the player selects it, a pair of tiles change color and rotate briefly left and right.
Unlike similar games, it doesn't offer a shuffle button to rearrange the remaining tiles to find pairs faster.
