Doge Blocks is a block puzzle game with an outdoor pet theme. Like traditional block puzzle games, it tasks a player with placing three block-like shapes onto a grid. Yet, the similarities end with this task. The player doesn't try to create and remove lines of blocks. The shapes aren't made of smaller blocks. Instead, the game features three roughly geometric dog shapes that have only heads and long bodies.
The board is an underground soil area of a section of lawn that displays a grid and a grass top. It floats in front of a graph paper background that has bumble bees, bushes, a tree and a beehive. The player must arrange the dog shapes around objects, such as bones, ladybugs, marbles and tin cans, on the grid. As a result, the game is more like a jigsaw tiling puzzle that features only three pieces per level across 105 levels.
Doge Blocks also acts more like a tiling game with how it treats the shapes. The player can adjust the positions of the blocks. They can temporarily return a block to its old position below the grid. They can also reposition it on the grid.
The game offers the player 10 hints across all levels. They access these hints via a yellow button labeled with a white light bulb. When the player selects it, a white dash-style outline in the shape of a single dog block appears on the grid. After the player uses all 10 hints, they must watch an advertisement to receive access to 10 more.
