Three hundred seconds remain on the clock. The player uses the white pieces. They must put their opponent in check to win a level of the game. If they make the wrong decision while attempting to place a piece, the game automatically tugs the piece back to its starting position. If they make the right decision, they unlock the next level.
Check Mate Puzzle offers the player two incredibly useful tools. It shows the player all of the potential moves they can make with a specific piece via dots that appear on the squares near the selected piece. For example, if they select a knight, the game shows the exact position or positions the knight can move to within the L-shape area of movement for that specific piece.
If the player can't determine the correct move, they can select the "Suggestions" button to receive guidance. The game makes this option available only once per level. That said, the player doesn't need more help after that point since the button shows them the exact move to make on the board.
