Xmas Bubble Frenzy is a festive Christmas-themed bubble shooter that requires a player to complete tasks across several hundred levels. The player collects a specific number of different types of bubbles based on color and Christmas (i.e., elf, penguin, snowman and Santa heads, and seasonal chocolates) using match-3 play. The player also attempts to earn the most points to rank in the top five on a leaderboard.
The player receives a holiday red arrow, a color-matched dotted targeting line to align shots, and one glowing colored projectile per shot. The bubbles look more like ice and bounce around like balls. The player shoots each projectile at hanging colored ones along the top of the screen in front of snow-colored hills and fir trees beneath a starry night sky. When the projectile hits two or more bubbles of the same color, the balls fall, form bokeh-style circles, and fade away while theme-compatible music plays.
The game tracks the number of collected bubbles on the right side. The player must collect all the necessary types before the sliding ones reach the bottom of the playfield. The game challenges them by taking an extra second between shots before revealing the color of the next projectile. If the player fails to collect all types in time, they can watch an ad to keep the game alive.
Xmas Bubble Frenzy doesn't penalize the player for fouls or non-match shots. Instead, the player can strategize freely by matching a projectile with only one other bubble to prepare for a future match-3 hit. The player can also enjoy taking out non-matching bubbles via avalanche play by hitting three or more matching bubbles above non-matching ones, and all fade from view.
