Cookie Crush: Christmas 2 is another great installment in the popular match-3 series set in a dessert world decked with holiday cheer that includes white icing-covered ice pop trees, cake and gingerbread houses, and presents. As with similar match-3 games, the player's goal is to complete specific tasks in each level to earn coins and stars. When they achieve their goal, the game proclaims "Cookie Crush!" before rewarding them for their excellent play.
Each checkered board in the game features a mix of desserts, including ring donuts with blue icing, slices of cherry pie, and a variety of cookies. The player must perform match-3 maneuvers to create lines of three or more matching treats to complete tasks. The game might ask them to collect a specific number of cherry pie slices or break squares of waffle under some desserts.
If the player matches more than three sweet treats in Cookie Crush: Christmas 2, they receive special boosters that help them complete tasks faster, such as a cookie with lines of icing during a match-4 scenario that represents a line blast bomb that takes out a row or a column when used in a match line. With a match-5 scenario, they create a rainbow-colored bomb tree ornament that removes every item that matches the one that the player swaps the bomb with on the board. If they combine two bombs, they remove every item.
The game sells the player these and other boosters. It also issues boosters as rewards in via chests and a prize wheel.
