Word Search Classic is a word game that offers 120 search puzzles in a virtual format. The game offers a classic setup with a mix of letters arranged in rows and columns on the right side of the screen and a list of words on the left side. The player's goal is to find all the hidden words in a puzzle.
The game offers two play options (Quick Game and Select Level). Neither option features a countdown timer. Instead, the game merely tracks the amount of time the player takes to solve a puzzle. With Quick Game, the player receives a random puzzle from any category. With Select Level, they select the category and puzzle. They can choose from 10 categories that feature different themes (Food, Animals, Sports, Fashion, Film, Romance, Body, Travel, Nature and Misc). Each category offers 12 levels of play.
The player can select words in various directions. The game hides the words in horizonal, vertical and diagonal forward and backward letter arrangements. The player uses their cursor like a highlighter-style marker to highlight words with different colors of ink. They don't need to make perfect lines or highlight starting with the first letter of a word. When they find every word, their final time appears, and fireworks burst on the screen.
Word Search Classic offers the player a maximum of two hints via a lightbulb icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
