Word Bird is a word search game that features puzzles similar to classic word search books. It offers 120 separate puzzles across 10 category themes (Animals, Body, Food, Fashion, Film, Nature, Misc., Romance, Sports and Travel). A mix of white letters in rows and columns appear on a frosted square with a list of words to the left in front of a fuzzy bokeh-style image related to a theme.
The player accesses the puzzles via Quick Game or Select Level options. With the first one, the game assigns a random level from any category. With the second one, the player must select the category and level. They find and select words among the letters in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions with left-to-right and right-to-left letter arrangements.
Instead of circling the words with a virtual pen, the player uses the cursor like a fluorescent highlighter or marker. They can highlight a word starting with the first or last letter. The game then randomly selects the ink color.
Word Bird has a hint tool as well. The player receives a total of 10 hints, with a maximum of two per puzzle. They use a hint by selecting the white lightbulb icon. The tool prompts the game to highlight a single word with a frosted white ink.
The game doesn't have a timer. That said, it does time the player to show them how quickly or slowly they completed a puzzle.
