Space Zoo is a block-puzzle game that features animals as polyomino shapes. The player must stack falling shapes into tower-like structures on a floating platform across three challenge modes (Stack, Survival and Catch). When the player does well, they win points and coins. They can use the money to buy additional animals.
In Stack mode, the player positions as many animals as possible before the blocks pile up haphazardly and cross a green laser line emitted from two generators above the platform. In Survival mode, they stack shapes until they run out of lives. In Catch mode, they stack the animals rapidly before a sparking substance that fills the screen from the bottom reaches the top of the stack. With all three modes, the player loses points and lives when the blocks fall off the side of the platform.
Space Zoo supplies the player with useful tools to help them stack blocks. They can rotate and slide the blocks into position. The game also displays a vertical column of light to help the player see better against the dark, starry background.�
