Pet Evolution is a dash racing game with monster trainer elements similar to Animalon, Battle Island, Digimons, Dynamons, Monster Rush and Pok�mon. The player directs an avatar trainer character down a track to collect and upgrade enough monsters to compete in battles in an arena against trainers and other characters and their monstrous pets.
The player can't control the speed of the run. They can only direct the avatar to the left, center or right of the track. As the avatar runs, the player directs the character to collect monster balls and gemstones.
With the former, the player unlocks panels on the track and exchanges monster balls like money to collect specific types of monsters. If they run the character through the same monster panel twice, the game automatically levels up the monster.
The player's goal is to create the perfect team of monsters for the battle arena at the end of the run. At the end of the run, they move each of their monsters strategically into position, and then wait for the battle to end.
Pet Evolution features monsters with both strengths and weaknesses. Once the player better understands these characteristics, they're able to form fighting teams that easily overcome rival teams.
At the end of a battle, they earn additional gemstones. The player uses these gems or watches videos to perform various upgrades before a dash. For example, they might upgrade their trainer with accessories or transform the avatar into an entirely different character.
