Knots Master 3D is a logic-puzzle game that features three-dimensional objects. The player must attempt to untangle three glossy, two-tone, striped blue, green and red power cables attached to various retro household appliances, electronics and other devices, including a digital clock, a desktop computer, a television, a toaster, a set of speakers, a dial radio, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, a three-blade fan and an oven.
A level starts with three twisted power cables below an object on a shelf and block-style plugs inserted into yellow sockets on a power strip that also has an unused socket. The player can only unplug one cable at a time. They can't unplug all three and untangle the cables. Instead, they must strategically unplug and reconnect each block plug in an order on the strip that repositions the cables.
Knots Master 3D features several challenges. The cables are never in a particular order under the shelf, which means that any color of cable might hang in the left, middle or right positions. The player must untangle the cables so that each one doesn't cross another cable in any way. The far right cable must hang to the right of the other two cables, the middle cable must remain in the middle, and the far left cable must hang to the left. When the player interacts with the plugs, the cables also swing in a confusing manner.
