GPU Mining is a semi-idle, incremental, click-tap game that tasks a player with upgrading a virtual computer's hardware and other parts using in-game money. The player's ultimate goal is to become a top crypto miner, which means this game has career simulation and education elements.
The player starts with $20 of in-game crypto money. They can use that money to level up their speed and income capabilities. Eventually, they can also increase the number of pipes attached to the system. The pipes represent crypto-mining gas, or the power needed to continue mining with the computer, and serve as outlets for virtual coins.
The player clicks the computer to increase the output and money represented by silver, copper and other coins. It's important to note that if the player clicks too fast, their crypto-mining system overheats and starts to burn up. A pink vertical temperature gauge on the left side of the screen displays a green indicator when they're earning money safely. It also features a yellow warning indicator followed by a final red indicator.
GPU Mining eventually offers the player a temporary freeze option that keeps the system cool while they click. It provides an auto clicker and other tools as rewards if the player watches advertisements. It also allows the player to use x3 multipliers when leveling up speed, income and pipe options. They merely need to watch extra ads.
