Merge Dice is a match-3 merge game that features tabletop dice. The player attempts to earn the highest point score by dragging one or two dice to a 5x5 dark green line grid to create lines or L shapes of three or more matching dice at a time before a 50-minute clock counts down.
This game doesn't use traditional sum mechanics. Instead, it's based on next-highest-number mechanics. At least three pieces merge to become a new one that's the next highest number in a standard-number sequence. For example, three white pieces marked with single red dots (#1) merge to become a dark blue piece with two white dots (#2). Three two-dot blue pieces merge to become a pink piece with three dots (#3), and so on.
Merge Dice rewards the player with the most points for an automatic combination. For example, the player places a #1 white piece next to two identical pieces adjacent to two blue pieces in a straight line or L-shaped pattern. When the white pieces merge to create a #2 blue piece, the two other blue pieces automatically merge with it to create a #3 pink one.
Since the grid fills quickly, the game offers a booster to help the player when they reach an impossible seven-dot level. Instead of a piece with seven dots, they receive a gold piece with a red hexagon icon. When they merge three of these pieces, they create a bomb that removes the five dice around it.
