Climb the Ladder is a skill-based, click-tap game. A player prompts an avatar represented only by hands and sleeves to climb as many rungs as possible on a white ladder. The ladder has white vines behind it and reaches high into a dark blue sky beyond the clouds. The player receives two hearts that represent their avatar's lives. Any time the avatar fails to grip a rung, the game takes away a heart.
The task sounds easy, but the game presents the player with a lot of obstacles. Steps on the ladder sometimes disappear or contain two pieces that slide in and out from the sides of the structure rapidly. A piece might not exist.
The player receives access to a pink button labeled with two hands that allows them to switch the next hand movement from the left to the right or the right to the left. They use a blue button marked with a single hand to make the avatar reach for the next rung.
Climb the Ladder requires that the player have precise timing skills and great hand-eye coordination. It also throws deadly traps into the mix. For example, a rung might contain embedded spikes. Additionally, a step might break away or explode when the avatar touches it.
The game tracks the highest score and combo score and the maximum number of steps the avatar reaches on the ladder. The player can unlock new arm sleeves that feature different prints, such as emojis, stars and stripes.
