Whizz Words is a word puzzle game in which a player must rearrange 16 random letters on a 4x4 grid to form as many words as possible before time runs out within two minutes. Their primary goal is to achieve the highest points across eight rounds.
The player receives points based on the number of letters used to create words and other factors. For example, they receive 5 points for each 3-letter word, 10 points for each 4-letter word, 20 points for each 5-letter word, and 50 points for each word of six or more letters.
The game also rewards points for special reasons. The player receives 200 points every time they create an 8-letter word. Other categories for scoring exist. The player receives 5 points in the Count category for every word, no matter the number of letters. They receive bonus points when they use every letter at least once in a round (Slam) and create a 3-letter word, a 4-letter word and a 5-letter word in a row (Straight). Lastly, they receive points if they complete 20 or more words during a round.
Whizz Words forces the player to select a category of points at the end of a round. As a result, the player doesn't receive the total number of points from the scores in every category. They only receive points from the selected category. They must also start over with new letters during the next round.
