Uphill Racing 2 is the next fun side-scrolling racing installment in the Uphill Racing series. As with the previous game, the player must drive various vehicles across difficult terrain through a wide range of outdoor environments.
The player pays for every upgrade except for a free helmet. With the coins they earn during play, they can eventually upgrade their base roadster to other types of vehicles, including a wagon, a pickup monster car, a truck and a half-truck option. They can also upgrade the fuel capacity, engine, tires and vehicle stability up to 10 times.
The game includes coin-upgradeable tracks or maps. The player initially receives access to the Plain track. The other tracks (Hillock, Desert, Arctic and Hills) feature higher map bonuses and coin percentages.
The player receives coins and extra fuel every time they successfully reach certain distance milestones (map bonus) and perform flips (flip bonus). They can also collect floating coins.
Each terrain features bumps, inclines, sudden drops and rolling hills. Uphill Racing 2 doesn't penalize the player when they crash beyond returning them to the start of a map.
The biggest obstacles by far, beyond extremely high hills with deep, unpassable chasms, are fuel tank capacity and vehicle stability. If the player manages to upgrade those areas from the beginning, they have a better chance of traveling across any terrain without too much difficulty.
