Police Car Simulator is a 3D-simulation game that focuses on a modern, black-and-white police car cruising and racing through city traffic. A player can experience what it's like to drive a police car from the driver's perspective behind the wheel and while watching from an exterior view.
The player immediately receives the option to go to the garage and perform upgrades before hitting the streets, but all modifications require in-game cash. They initially receive $500. They need to earn additional money performing maneuvers and stunts, such as drifting, to make changes. The game doesn't allow them to perform extensive customizations. Instead, they can change the window tint, undercarriage lighting and wheel smoke to any one of a dozen colors, including silver, gray, black and all main colors found on a color wheel.
The player can pretend to be a police officer in three modes (Simulator, Drift and Arcade). They access these modes after creating a nickname. During gameplay, they can review the city streets and their location on an overhead-view minimap inset at the upper right corner of the screen. They can also turn the vehicle's engine off or on using an ignition option marked with a key. Other gameplay details include a gas gauge, speedometer and buttons to adjust the camera view, headlights, traction control (TCS), anti-lock braking (ABS) and other vehicle systems.
