Pixel Road Taxi Depot is an open-world, driving game that places a player behind the wheel of a taxi cab in a pixelated cityscape. The player drives around looking for new passengers who they then pick up and drop off at various destinations as quickly as possible. The player is sometimes given specific missions and receives achievement awards that translate to a leaderboard position.
As with a real taxi job, the player earns fare and tips from passengers. The game allows them to use this money to upgrade to a better taxi at a garage that appears onscreen after a pick up and drop off, walkthrough test mission.
Pixel Road Taxi Depot doesn't make the job effortless. The player has to deal with various obstacles at different times during gameplay, including rain, fog and other bad weather, nighttime driving, medium and high traffic congestion, sudden stops and starts from other drivers, fast trains and dangerous railway crossings. If the player crashes into any obstacles, their taxi blows up into individual large pixels and turns gray.
How to play:
Drive around looking for a passenger or follow onscreen mission prompts. When the passenger comes into view, slow down a few feet ahead of them so they walk back toward the taxi. Drive until the distance gauge reaches zero. Pull over to the side a few feet before the stop.
Controls:
Keyboard: This game works best with a keyboard. Press the arrow keys to move in different directions. Press the down arrow key to slow.
Mouse: Although this game works with a mouse, it's sometimes difficult to stop with one. To move the taxi cab, press down and hold the mouse button, and slide the mouse around on a smooth surface. Release the button to slow down.
Mobile: Tap and press the touch screen or pad with a fingertip or stylus pen, and then slide across the surface to move the cab. Stop touching the screen or pad to slow down.
