Sweet Merge is a merge game similar to Suika Game and 2048. Instead of merging fruit or tiles to create larger fruit or numbered tiles, respectively, the player merges pieces of candy or desserts to create larger treats and earn points. The sweets include hard candies with and without icing, desserts filled with cream and sprinkles, and sticky swirl buns topped with jelly, chocolate and nuts.
The player drops a piece of candy or dessert, displayed next to an arrow near the top-center of the screen, from above a yellow horizontal dashed line into a space with walls on both sides. The game challenges the player by making the round or somewhat round sweets bounce, roll and slide on surfaces semi-realistically. As a result, some pieces land in unwanted spots. Also, some pieces refuse to merge because a piece might roll off the smooth side of a match piece.
Sweet Merge makes every new dessert slightly larger to force the player to think more carefully and strategically when dropping the sweets. If the player allows the objects to stack up inside of the walled-in area until the pieces bypass the yellow dashed line, they lose the game. They must then start over and attempt to beat their previous score and achieve the ultimate treat goal.
