Solitaire Mahjong Candy 2 is a timed tile-matching game that provides Mahjong-style play for a single player. It features tiles that depict candy and other sweet treats instead of traditional Mahjong imagery. Common images include bagged sweets, biscuits, cake pops, cakes, candy canes, chocolate bars and pieces, cookies, cupcakes, donuts, fruit pops, hard candies, ice cream, ice pops, jelly candies, jelly rolls, lollipops, marshmallow twists on sticks, and plastic-wrapped candies. The player selects an ivory white or tan image backdrop for the face-up tiles via the main menu.
The player's goal is to remove the entire pattern of layered tiles from the playfield before the timer reaches zero. The initial timer features an eight-minute clock. The player can only select and remove matching pairs of uncovered tiles. When they make selections, the game provides them with confirmation by outlining the tiles with purple-pink edges. With every pairing, they receive 100 points, presented next to heart-embossed gold coins, toward their total score.
Solitaire Mahjong Candy 2 helps make the matches easier in various ways. It displays the timer, number of available pairs, number of matched tiles, title for the pattern, and number of heart-embossed gold coins along the top of the screen. It provides tile shuffle, undo move, match magnifier and pair hint tools to the right of the tiles as well.
