Playing with Fire 2 is a Bomberman-style game that features pixelated graphics and a classic city-under-siege tale. The player's avatar is lost while in a city. Neighborhood gangs are after them. The only way for the character to survive is if the player directs them to use bombs and power-ups to fight back!
The player has exactly three minutes to open up as many paths in the city through red barrels with up to nine bombs during 1 Player or 2 Player mode. They can only place one stick of dynamite at a time unless they have power-ups.
No matter the mode, they can select one, two or three opponents. All characters have exactly three lives, which means that the player must blast away every character three times. To win overall, they must play three games.
The player can direct their character to move through power-ups that appear to enhance their play. For example, a power-up with a shoe or hand and a stick of dynamite allows the player to kick or throw a bomb, respectively. Golden trainers make the character move faster. Lighting bolts increase the range of a bomb by one or up to eight squares at a time maximum in any one direction. The player can also use warp squares to teleport from one warp square to another of the same color.
Playing with Fire 2 rewards points based on the number of remaining seconds multiplied by 250 and the number of opponents. If the player loses, they receive a negative score equal to the same amount.
