Nintendo Switch Repair is a simulation game that uses semi-realistic elements to allow the player to try their hand at repairing a handheld game device like a tech repairperson. The player learns the basic skills and steps to repair a Nintendo Switch game with many of the same tools used by professionals. Given that Nintendo has sold millions of Switch handhelds, it's a great game for young and old gamers alike to learn more about how the parts of their Switch fit together and what a technician might need to do if the screen ever suddenly stopped working.
The game starts by prompting the player to save their progress to an account or their local device. The player then receives a broken, dirty virtual Nintendo Switch that looks like someone dropped it into a mud puddle. They plug in a USB drive to check the screen, clean the front and back, take out the screws, look inside, remove more screws, remove parts, solder components, apply thermal paste, reinstall clean and repaired parts, screw the case shut, and then try out the screen with the USB. If they service the device successfully, they can decorate the outside.
Nintendo Switch Repair features an achievement system. The player receives rewards every time they complete a step correctly. After they finish the game, they can start over to try out different decorative skins for the front and back of their virtual Nintendo Switch.
