Mahjong Street Cafe is a tile-matching game that requires a player to select and match three identical tiles at a time to remove them from the playfield. The player's primary objective is to clear all layered tiles before time runs out.
The game features 80 levels of Mahjong-style play that feature daytime and nighttime backdrops and white tiles with images of food found in cafes, diners, food trucks and other eateries. The player might need to match hamburgers, fries, sandwiches, tacos, bread loaves, frozen fudge bars or ice cream cones.
Unlike classic Mahjong, this game doesn't feature "free" tiles on the top layer. Instead, the player can select any tile, even if it's between two tiles. When the player makes a selection, the tile transfers to a space on a bar that features seven empty spaces. The player loses if they run out of spaces to match tiles.
Mahjong Street Cafe rewards the player with up to three stars when they finish a level. If they make a mistake, they can use an undo button labeled with a semicircular backward arrow. If they're having difficulty finding three matching tiles, they can use a shuffle button to rearrange the tiles. The game also offers a magic wand that automatically selects and removes three tiles.
If the player runs out of helpful tools, they can earn more by watching ads. That said, the game automatically resets the buttons. The player receives two chances per tool for each new level.
