Like the other mahjong variants, the objective of Classic Mahjong is to eliminate all of the objects on the screen. However, this time instead of bubbles you will be eliminating tiles instead. Also, there is no shooting mechanism this time either. Instead, tiles are eliminated by matching them up. Any two titles touching one another anywhere on the screen can be clicked to have them eliminated. However, at the very bottom of the screen on the first row, tiles that are not touching can be eliminated as long as they are of the same type.
Classic Mahjong is a timed game so you will have to think fast. There is a timer on the left side of the screen that slowly counts down as you play. If it reaches the bottom, you get a game over.
Above the timer is the score counter. Matching up tiles will give you 10 points.
The graphics are reflective of a real-life Mahjong game. The tiles are the same as in the real-life game, and the table that it's played on is green with wood trim like in many Mahjong parlors. The music is classic Asian-themed music.
In the upper right corner of the screen is an options tab that can be opened. Options include the ability to turn off the music, reset the game, and continue the game.
In the bottom left corner is a hint button. Pressing the button will show you two matching tiles that can be eliminated. Be aware that you only get six hints, and these hints may not always be the best strategy, so only use them when you're stumped.
