Skateboard Surf is a three-dimensional endless runner that features a character riding their skateboard through various urban locations. The player's only goals are to collect gold bars, earn points and help the character travel as far as possible.
The player can select one of five characters to serve as their avatar, including a kid in casual street clothes, a monkey holding a staff, and a girl with large wings. After they make a selection, they're presented with a wide range of obstacles on the character's path, such as construction and other barriers, railroad tracks and train cars. They must use their hand-eye coordination skills to direct the character around, over top of or under these objects. They also need to help the character perform stunts on curved quarter-pipes and other ramps, metal bars and additional surfaces.
If the character crashes into anything, it loses the skateboard and runs physically on two legs on the path like any other running-style race. To restore the skateboard, the player must watch an advertisement. If it crashes a second time, the run ends and the player must start over.
Skateboard Surf also features powerups, including a shield that protects the character temporarily from harm during a crash. To acquire one, the player merely needs to direct the character to skate through the floating icon.
