Rainbow Balls 2048 is a merge game based on the 2048 tile-merging game. It features balls that each have a single associated color and number. The player's goal is to merge matching ball pairs inside a narrow container to make new numbered balls until they create the 2048 ball.
Unlike similar games, Rainbow Balls 2048 doesn't display previews. The player receives one ball per turn that they drop from a frosted horizontal line. For example, the player might drop a dark blue 4 ball and then another matching 4 ball on top of it to create a dark purple 8 ball. If they need to better understand the evolution of merged balls, they can access a guide by selecting a red button marked with a white exclamation point.
The balls change positions within the container quickly. Every merge creates a force that automatically causes a new numbered ball to flip and fly into the air and then bounce and roll around against other balls or the container's bottom or side walls. This movement sometimes allows a top-level ball to roll under another ball and merge with a lower one.
Rainbow Balls 2048 provides the player with a frosted, vertical targeting column to help with aiming the drops. Given ball bouncing and other movements, this tool doesn't guarantee an accurate drop to a specific position in the container. It's used primarily to help with aiming to merge two balls.
The game awards the player with points and coins. Once the player wins enough coins, they can purchase a round black bomb to use in the container.
