Lawn Mower is a racing game with elements unique to landscaping and lawn care. On an elevated grass-covered race track, the player attempts to mow a single swath of lawn that runs between blue watering cans, garden gnomes, gray boulders and late summer trees without hitting anything blocking their path. They must also attempt to outrun a black tire rolling behind the mower through the mowed areas.
It might surprise some players to learn that Lawn Mower is a heart-pounding racing game that requires excellent hand-eye coordination and perfect timing every step of the way. The game places a lot of obstacles in the mower's path, including blue rotating paddles and sliding blocks and semi-circular walls. Strong crosswinds with a mix of late summer and early autumn leaves also blow across the screen with a flashing warning symbol.
In Lawn Mower, the player must accelerate and decelerate with precise control to not hit anything. If the mower even taps an object gently, it immediately falls to pieces. Additionally, obstacles don't phase the tire. It can roll right through each one as if the dangers don't exist. As a result, the player needs to keep the mower as far ahead of the tire as possible.
